North First Avenue Bridge
The new North First Avenue Bridge opened in July 2024. The new bridge enhances traffic safety, improves Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access, enhances pedestrian walkways, and re-establishes a safe connection between the residential north portion and the downtown business district of the City of Barstow.
SBCTA, in cooperation with the City of Barstow and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad, led the construction effort to replace the bridge, which was built around 1930. Now that the new bridge is open, crews are working to demolish the old bridge.
