The highly anticipated Redlands Passenger Rail Project/Arrow, which will bring state-of-the-art clean-air rail technology to one of the world’s busiest transportation corridors is scheduled to begin service later this year. Arrow initially will feature the low-emission diesel multiple units (DMUs), followed by North America’s first zero-emission hydrogen-powered trains (ZEMU). A few months ago, three low-emission diesel multiple units (DMUs) were delivered to the new Arrow Maintenance Facility in the City of San Bernardino. Crews have assembled the DMUs and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) will begin testing them on the new 9-mile corridor this week.
Arrow will transform how commuter rail is operated in the Inland Empire and across the state. Service will run between the San Bernardino Transit Center located at Rialto Avenue and E Street in Downtown San Bernardino and will terminate at the University of Redlands. Arrow will connect the east valley of San Bernardino County to a multi-modal transit hub that can provide access to all points west. Locally it will connect residents, businesses, and visitors to a variety of leisure, education, healthcare, and other destinations.
