NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED ELIMINATION OF CASH TICKETS AT CERTAIN METROLINK STATION PLATFORMS
Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) will convene a public hearing at its Board of Directors (Board) Meeting on September 9, 2016 to evaluate potential operational fare collection changes with the goals of improving system performance, modernizing customer experience and reducing operating costs. The hearing is regarding a proposal to reduce or remove cash usage at Metrolink station platforms.
The Board reviewed the June 24, 2016 Board agenda item #13 (available at the SCRRA website, www.metrolinktrains.com/meetings) related to the public review process for this matter.
The public hearing will be listed on the agenda of the SCRRA Board of Directors Meeting on:

September 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

The hearing will also consider any California Environmental Quality Act-related requirements (including California Public Resources Code Sections 21080(b)(8), 21065, 21080.32 and related regulations), and the determination of whether the establishment, modification, structuring or restructuring of fares and/or one or more of such service changes would constitute a “project”, a schedule for a response as necessary to public suggestions on service changes, and fiscal emergency findings within the meaning of Public Resources Code Section 21080.32, to realize the necessary budget reductions. The proposed removal or reduction in cash usage at Metrolink station platforms, not including Union Station, seeks to accomplish the aforementioned goals while minimizing adverse impacts to passengers and to the physical environment.
Information regarding the this action is available on the Metrolink website at www.metrolinktrains.com or in the SCRRA headquarters office, located at One Gateway Plaza, Floor 12, Los Angeles, CA 90012 during regular office hours Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Comments and suggestions may be submitted orally or in writing at the Public Hearing. Citizens all have the option of reviewing the information and submitting feedback in advance of the Public Hearing by clicking on the “eComment” option to submit an instant electronic comment at www.metrolinktrains.com/ecomments, or by mail if received in advance of the public hearing to the attention of Metrolink Ticketing at the SCRRA headquarters office, or faxed to the attention of Metrolink Ticketing before the hearing at (213) 452-0421. All public comments prior to the Public Hearing, regardless of the form of communication, must be submitted and received no later than Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at noon. Some or all of these matters may be continued by the Board to a later time or date at its sole discretion.
