San Bernardino County Transportation Authority to Mark Opening of State Route 210 Pepper Avenue Interchange in Rialto

May 30, 2018

The new ramps at State Route 210 (SR-210) interchange with Pepper Avenue in the City of Rialto are scheduled to open May 31, 2018, the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) announced.
Officials from SBCTA, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), City of Rialto and the County of San Bernardino will gather for a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10 AM at Frisbee Park in the City of Rialto. The event is open to the public.
In their continued effort to “Plan.Build.Move.” SBCTA, in collaboration with Caltrans and City of Rialto, built the new interchange to provide a connection between the recently extended Pepper Avenue and SR-210; offering a new option for commuting and moving goods through the region.
Construction began in March 2017 and is being completed in two phases. During Phase 1, the tight diamond shaped ramps were built with two lanes per ramp. Both the eastbound and westbound on-ramps include carpool lanes and ramp meters. Additional features of the project include the widening of Pepper Avenue to Highland Avenue and construction of retaining walls beneath the bridge.
Phase 1 was completed with the installation of traffic signals and the placement of an irrigation system and landscaping. To culminate the project, during Phase 2 the new ramps were connected to the Route 210 lanes and the roadway was restriped.
Funding for the $24.5 million project was provided by a combination of state, federal and local funds, including Measure I, the voter-approved half-cent sales tax for transportation projects in San Bernardino County.
