SBCTA’s Mission Statement

December 9, 2019

SBCTA’s Mission Statement had not been updated since 1996. Since that time, SBCTA’s role in the county has evolved with the renewal of Measure I until 2040, legislation creating SBCTA as a statutory entity, the start of express lane projects, new state and federal transportation programs and priorities, among various other changes. Due to our agency’s evolving role, it was determined that our Mission Statement needed to be updated.

Following a November 12, 2019 workshop where members of the Board discussed considerations for the new Mission Statement. At the December SBCTA Board meeting, the following was approved:

SBCTA/SBCOG Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve the quality of life and mobility in San Bernardino County. Safety is the cornerstone of all we do.

We achieve this by:

  • Making all transportation modes as efficient, economical, and environmentally responsible as possible.
  • Envisioning the future, embracing emerging technology, and innovating to ensure our transportation options are successful and sustainable.
  • Promoting collaboration among all levels of government.
  • Optimizing our impact in regional, state, and federal policy and funding decisions.
  • Using all revenue sources in the most responsible and transparent way.
