Construction Management Services Awarded for Next Phase of US 395 Improvements

October 8, 2024

High Desert motorists will soon see the second of a three-phase strategy to improve US 395 between Victorville and Adelanto.  US 395 is one of the main north/south highways in Southern California, providing access to and linking economic centers, recreational areas, and urban and rural regions.  The project seeks to enhance safety and allow for better throughput through the growing communities of the Victor Valley.

At their recent monthly meeting, the SBCTA Board of Directors approved a contract for Construction Management (CM) services to WSP USA, Inc.  Bringing on CM support signals that the project is wrapping up the final Design efforts and is being evaluated for constructability and compliance with an array of expectations associated with highway construction.

Phase Two of this project represents the portion of US 395 from Interstate 15 to State Route 18.  Phase One, State Route 18 to Chamberlaine Way in Adelanto, was completed in 2021 and included improvements like route widening, additional signals and turn pockets, and enhanced striping.  Phase Two will continue that effort to the southern portion of the route.

Motorists can expect construction to begin by early 2026 and continue through early 2028.  Phase Three, which will pick up from Chamberlaine Way and head north to Desert Flower, is still pursuing the funding efforts needed for that phase of the overall project.
