SB Express Lanes Open in San Bernardino County

September 10, 2024

San Bernardino County Transportation Authority’s (SBCTA) new SB Express Lanes on Interstate 10 between the Los Angeles-San Bernardino County line and Etiwanda Avenue, just east of Interstate 15, are officially open. Ten miles of new express lanes give drivers more choices for how they want to reach their destinations when driving on Interstate 10.

While the lanes are open to all eligible vehicles, drivers with FasTrak® accounts will pay the lowest tolls and benefit from available offers and discounts. High occupancy vehicles (HOV) with three or more people can use the lanes for free with a FasTrak account and FasTrak Flex switchable transponder.  Drivers are encouraged to sign up for FasTrak at SBExpressLanes.com.

For anyone using the lanes without a FasTrak account, they can pay for their toll online within five days of the trip to avoid a notice of toll evasion. Motorcyclists can use the lanes for free at all times and do not need a FasTrak account.

Toll pricing is dynamic, and changes based on current traffic levels and demand for the lanes. Prices will range from $.70 to $10. The price shown on signs at entry points is the price drivers will be charged.  Additional discounts are available for qualifying low-income and disabled veterans residing in San Bernardino County, and clean-air vehicles.

A new SB Express Lanes walk-in center is open inside Rancho Cucamonga City Hall. Drivers wanting to pay for tolls with cash can do so at the walk-in center. Drivers wanting to apply for low-income and disabled veteran discounts are required to apply in person at the walk-in center. The walk-in center is located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, and is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The new 10 miles of SB Express Lanes on Interstate 10 represent the first phase of a planned 33-mile express lane network between the Los Angeles-San Bernardino County line and Redlands. The second phase that includes 11 miles of express lanes construction between Etiwanda Avenue and Pepper Street in Colton is expected to begin near the end of 2025. Construction of 12 miles in the third phase between Pepper Avenue and Ford Street in Redlands will start at a later date. Find more information on the SB Express Lanes at SBExpressLanes.com.
