At their June meeting, the SBCTA Board of Directors elected Chino Hills Councilman Ray Marquez to serve as Board President for the 2024-2025 year and Yucca Valley Town Councilman Rick Denison to serve as Vice President.
President-elect Marquez is the current Vice President of the SBCTA Board, Chair of the General Policy Committee and Vice Chair of the Legislative Policy Committee. Marquez was elected to the Chino Hills City Council in a special election in 2013 to fill a Council vacancy. He was re-elected in 2014, 2018 and 2022, and served as Mayor in 2017 and 2022.
Ray has been an active volunteer and civic leader in the community since 1984. He was a member of the Chino Hills Incorporation Committee, which sought to establish Chino Hills as a City. Ray also served as a member of the City’s Planning Commission from 1992 to 1994, and the Parks and Recreation Commission from 1994 to 2006. He also served as an elected Board Member for the Chino Valley Independent Fire District from 2006 until he was elected to the Chino Hills City Council in 2013. Currently, Councilman Marquez also serves as Second Vice President of the Southern California Association of Governments and Board of Directors for the Southern California Regional Railroad Authority (Metrolink) and the Inland Empire Division of the League of California Cities.
The Board of Directors also elected Yucca Valley Town Councilman Rick Denison to serve as Board Vice President. Councilman Denison currently serves as the Chair of SBCTA’s Transit Committee. Rick was elected to the Yucca Valley Town Council in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2022. Denison also serves as a member of the Regional Council for the Southern California Association of Governments.
