SBCTA and SBCOG efforts were recognized this past week by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership and the Public Relations Society of America – Inland Empire Chapter. The work performed by staff is a product of the trust taxpayers have put into the agency’s ability to deliver on its promises. Both the Council of Governments and the Transportation Authority take pride in their ability to elevate the offering to the public in all they do. The award recognition for outstanding achievement in government practices and communications is both humbling and a great reminder for the agency to continue to seek ways to improve the way we do business for the people of San Bernardino County.
Here is a summary of the three projects that were recognized:
Inland Empire Economic Partnership – Red Tape to Red Carpet
Category: Cooperation among Cities, Counties, or Agencies
Name: “Right Care, Right Time” – Emergency Communication Nurse System
Project Summary:
SBCOG partnered with CONFIRE to develop a more efficient 9-1-1 dispatch process that connects the right level of response to each call. The ECNS will result in more efficient use of resources in order to optimize the investment made by local jurisdictions and help ensure that those who need assistance will receive it in the timeliest process available.
Public Relations Society of America – Inland Empire Chapter
Category: Tactics/Special Events/One-Time
Name: SBCTA I-10 Express Lanes Groundbreaking Event
Award: Capella (Award of Distinction)
Project Summary:
SBCTA broke ground on the I-10 Express Lanes in 2020. With the global pandemic and quarantine restrictions, SBCTA modified its in-person event to a virtual groundbreaking. Through online engagement, SBCTA provided thousands the opportunity to celebrate this milestone instead of only those who would have been able to attend in person.

The SBCTA Today videos have leveraged the agency’s online presence to reach the many diverse communities in the region. SBCTA Today videos provide a consistent voice to boost online engagement and strengthen trust with residents, city partners, civic organizations, and key stakeholders.
