At their June meeting, the SBCTA Board of Directors elected Town of Apple Valley Mayor Pro Tem Art Bishop to serve as Board President for the 2022-2023 year and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Dawn Rowe to serve as Vice President.
President-elect Bishop is the current Vice President of the SBCTA Board and Chair of the Metro Valley Study Session and Vice Chair of the Mountain Desert Policy Committee. His public service began with a more than 30 year career in fire service in the High Desert, 15 years with the Apple Valley Fire District where he retired as Chief. Mayor Pro Tem Bishop was elected to the Apple Valley Town Council in 2012 and is serving his third term on the Council. He is a Veteran of the United States Army and Past President of the Mojave Water Agency. His experience as a veteran and fire chief, as well as his work on the Water Agency and SBCTA Board give him a unique perspective on the many challenges facing local communities.
The Board of Directors also elected Third District San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe to serve as Board Vice President. Supervisor Rowe currently serves as Chair of SBCTA’s Mountain Desert Policy Committee. She was appointed to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in 2018, was re-elected to a full term in 2020 and elected to serve as Board Vice Chair by her colleagues in 2021. Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors, Vice President-elect Rowe served on the Yucca Valley Town Council from 2010-2014 and the Yucca Valley Planning Commission from 2008-2010.
