The Journey Continues: SBCTA Hosts ZEMU and Arrow Maintenance Facility Virtual Informational Webinar

February 13, 2024

On February 7, SBCTA hosted a webinar to share information about the Zero-Emission Multiple Unit (ZEMU) rail vehicle, coming to San Bernardino’s Arrow line later this year, and to provide an update about the modifications needed to accommodate the ZEMU vehicle to the existing Arrow Maintenance Facility (AMF) located just east of the San Bernardino Santa Fe Depot.

Dozens of online participants, and more than 40 more viewers via the link on the project page, have learned about how ZEMU, North America’s first compliant zero-emission hydrogen-powered passenger train, will benefit the environment through improved air quality, reduced carbon emissions and contributions to global warming, reduced noise pollution and increased energy efficiency. Information was also shared about how hydrogen works, what residents and riders can expect with the arrival of the new vehicle and more. Additionally, updates were given on the modifications needed to the AMF to facilitate hydrogen storage, refueling and required safety enhancements needed to accommodate ZEMU vehicles.

Those unable to participate in the meeting can watch the recording of the webinar at goSBCTA.com/ZEMU.
