SBCTA President Darcy McNaboe was joined by elected officials from the County, the cities of Adelanto and Victorville, and leadership from Caltrans District 8 to celebrate the commencement of the long-awaited widening of US 395. Fellow SBCTA Board Member and First District County Supervisor Robert Lovingood served as emcee for the ceremony held on April 16th at the Adelanto Stadium.
Phase I of this project looks to make the High Desert highway a 4-lane (two in each direction) roadway between State Route 18 in Victorville to Chamberlaine Way in Adelanto. Turn pockets, signal improvements, drainage and other operational enhancements will be included. With construction now underway, motorists can expect to see various activities that will include traffic shifts and shoulder restrictions over the next two years. Future phases are still pending funding support.
